Perfect for summer: Great Divide’s “Hades”

From the Girls Who Like Beer: Hades Belgian Style

Hades by The Great Divide

Nothing beats taking a break from the hustle and bustle of city life like drinking a beer on your porch while watching the neighborhood go by. One of my go-to summer beers of late: Hades – a Belgian Style Ale by Great Divide Brewing Company of Denver, Colorado, a brewery that never disappoints.

Hades is a light Belgian style, nearing a Saison as it’s slightly fruity with a crisp citrus. It’s well-carbonated and pours a light, golden straw color with a white head. Itss appropriate to serve this in a tulip glass – the beer is actually brewed with Belgian yeast.

Why the name Hades? It’s certainly a much more pleasant beer than its Greek mythology namesake (note the three-headed beast that guards the underworld on the label), but perhaps the 7.8% ABV will account for it.
