Giveaway: The Rare Experience beer fest in Studio City

Win tickets to The Rare Experience on November 19

There are beer fests and there are Beer Fests. Lucky for us all, the powers that be behind Beer Fests for Beer Geeks are bringing some of the most unique festivals to Los Angeles, the most recent being the Belgian Independence fest last July. Coming soon is probably the best one of them all – The Rare Experience on Saturday, November 19 from 2:00 – 6:00pm.

Stout_Rare-Experience_2016Think of it like The Shelton Brothers Festival but with more of a focus on rare sours, barrel-aged and wild ales from the US. The beers are all rare or unique one-offs from breweries as far as Connecticut to as close as Los Angeles. We’re particularly excited about Apricot Au Poivre from Nebraska Brewing Co., a 6.5% Belgian style stour aged for six months in French Oak Chardonnay barrels with apricots and black pepper.

Or how about all the beers from Ordinem Ocentrici Coctores (aka Eccentric Brewers or OEC), known for making delicate blends for their unusual American Wild Ales. At the festival you’ll get to try three of their beers, including Narcissus and two versions of Tempus Blend #6.

Logsdon’s Peche ‘n Brett, Seizoen Brettaville aged in oak barrels with 1.5lbs of peaches per gallon, is a great intro into the sour beer world but their Kriek Vier is a killer Belgian style quad on cherries.

Don’t pass up a pour of Allagash Nancy – a sour red ale aged in stainless with Maine Balaton and Montmorrency cherries.

Representing Los Angeles is new brewery Cellador Ales from Los Angeles will be on deck, as well Phantom Carriage and Small Batch Beer Makers (a project of Arsenal Urban Ales).

All-in-all, there are 22 breweries each pouring two (or more) beers each – check out the full taplist here. Tickets are worth every penny at $50 for General Admission (gets you 10 draft pours) and $70 for VIP tickets (early entry, 12 draft pours and three special bottle pours).

We recommend buying tickets soon – the event is expected to sell out. In the meantime, you can try your hand at winning a pair of General Admission tickets – details below!

I’ve never been to a festival like this, mostly due to being broke, but I definitely want to go to this one! I love tasting new beers, the weirder the better!!

I would love to win these tickets because there are so many breweries I have yet to try. It would be the greatest early birthday gift to me. #fingerscrossed
