Boomtown Brewery opens new taproom

On Saturday, February 4, Boomtown Brewery unveils its taproom to the public with a Grand Opening event. Starting at 12:00 noon, festivities include food trucks, DJs, pool, shuffleboard and – of course – plenty of beer.

Brewmaster (and General Partner) Samuel “Chewy” Chawinga has introduced some pretty unique beers to the LA beer scene with a focus on old world approach to beer styles including Belgians, IPAs, Stouts, Wheats and Saisons. Definitely be on the lookout Nose Job IPA – one of their core beers and nice and dry with a citrus aroma. Mic Czech is a favorite low-ABV brew with a classic take. Kilwinning will go quite well with a burger with its malt-forward backbone and a hint of tea (brewed in-house).

For the grand opening, we recommend Working Title – a tart wheat style with loads and mango and passionfruit but a mere 5.4%.

Fans of the brewery can sign up for the Golden Glass membership, which is essentially an on-site mug club with merch perks. Members get a limited gold monogrammed glass to fill ten pints per month for the year, plus first access to new releases and growler fills. Through February 15 the Founders membership is only $325 and also gets you 20% off all merch – after that, memberships are $375 and receive 10% off merchandise.

Membership or not, Boomtown’s taproom will be open seven days a week (official hours pending) and will certainly be a hot spot in downtown LA’s blossoming beer scene.
